The advantage of a great red wine vintage, like 2009, is that you get a fabulous rosé too. Juices bled off from the vats at an early stage in such a rich vintage are deeply coloured and with excellent sugar levels. Luscious red fruits, hints of strawberry, with just enough acidity for balance. Delicious.
"The Rose boom shows little sign of slowing and there can hardly be a wine region of note that doesn't produce some sort of pink wine. In fact its pretty hard to find a duff one these says. One of the best known is the 2009 Chateau de Sours and its an absolute cracker. Blended from merlot and carbernet franc, it has real character and style. If you really want to show off, grab yourself an eight bottle Imperial". Jonathan Ray, Saturday 17th July 2010.
