White Beaune sounds like an oxymoron, however it does exist in very small quantities and can be quite stunning, combining the succulence of Puligny and Meursault with the sumptuousness of the white Grand Crus such as Corton Charlemagne. Gorgeously restrained yet opulent at the same time, with hints of citrus and crème pâtissier, this is a masterpiece in understatement and is absolutely fabulous – it should be obligatory drinking.
