We have secured the last of the glorious 2005 vintage, which is drinking beautifully, after which we will move onto the younger, racier 2008. With hints of cigar box and lovely notes of evolving Merlot, this is soft, supple and with a light crunch of tannin.

"Private Cellar (01353 721999) offers keenly-priced festive magnums, so take your pick from its fine, toasty and hazlenutty 2008 Bourgogne Chardonnay, Domaine Matrot, or its delicious, smoky, plummy 2005 Bordeaux Supérieur, J. P. Moueix." Jane MacQuitty, The Times, 4th December 2010

"An elegant and lighter style of Bordeaux, still with plenty of tannin and structure but a classy sense of allowing the fruit, freshness and tannin to show rather than lash it with too much oak. Worth a few bottles to keep you in bargain Bordeaux over the winter." The Wine Gang, September 2010

"The nose is classic with some cigar box character but the palate has a tight green edge with a touch of bitter chocolate and some more savoury notes on the finish." The Wine Gang.

"Cracking value made under the supervision of Christian Moueix from bought grapes." Jonathan Ray, the Telegraph
