From just two hectares of vineyards in 1990, Isabelle and Denis Pommier now work a total of 13 hectares ranging from Petit Chablis up to Grands Crus. Steely and mineral on the palate with white stone fruits, their Chablis is surprisingly expressive and like all 2007s is delicious now.
"Steely yet creamy; ideal with brie". Jonathan Ray, The Field, March 2010 edition.
"My kind of chablis from a husband-and-wife team whose gorgeous wines have popped up in my columns before. The 2007 was a stand-alone chablis vintage and this mouthwatering offering shows why. You could choose to sip it now and enjoy the lively, verdant, tongue-tingling fruit young. Or else try tucking it away for a few years for rather more of those mature, refined, verdant, cheesy flavours — so beloved by chablis devotees — to develop. Drink 2009-2015." - Jane MacQuitty, The Times, 9th January 2010.
"We reckon this is what Private Cellar excels at - finding wines from classic areas that deliver the goods. With so many Chablis wines under-delivering, this wine is worth noting. Aromas are stony, creamy and with a honeyed touch and the palate delivers a lovely bright pristine quality that made us think of stars on a crisp clear night. OK OK so we're being wistful and it sounds rather silly but you get the picture - this Chablis is fresh, fun and worth buying." 89/100, www.thewinegang.com (tasted in September 2009).
