Sainte Croix du Mont runs along the east bank of the Garonne River, between the water and the Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, directly opposite Barsac and Sauternes. Inevitably it benefits from the same weather as its illustrious neighbours and being west-facing enjoys more drying influence from the sun. Honeyed, citrus fruits with a hint of caramel and toastiness, this is beautifully sweet but not cloying.
"The luscious 2006 Château Laurette, Sainte Croix du Mont, 13.5%vol, France (£10.95; Private Cellar), too, would be twice the price if from a grander appellation.” Johnny Ray, The Telegraph, 3rd December 2009
