Based in the Côte de Blancs, the heart of Champagne’s Chardonnay vineyards, Legras & Haas’ Tradition is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinots Noir and Meunier, with the Chardonnay characteristics to the fore. Creamy, lemony white fruits, soft yet vibrant, this is light and floral, the perfect apéritif wine.
Wine Spectator Score: 91 Points
This elegant Champagne offers subtle flavors of apple and pear tart, anise and candied lemon zest, with a hint of rich brioche. Fresh and firm, with a light grain to the texture and a smoky mineral finish. Drink now through 2020. Tasted twice, with consistent notes. (Nov 30, 2011)
Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar Score: 90 Points
Light gold. Mineral-driven aromas of lime, lemongrass, chalk and honeysuckle. Fresh citrus and orchard fruit flavors are complemented by deeper notes of smoky lees and sweet butter. Seems like there's more chardonnay in here than 60%. A racy, finely etched Champagne that will be excellent with fresh shellfish. (November 2011)Decanter Magazine, January 2012: 15.58/20
Floral, baked apple, peach and vanilla bouquet. Similar character on the sharper palate, it is fine and elegant with bags of character and some zippy acidity. (January 2012, published December 2011)
