Pfalz wines are drier and fuller bodied than either their Rhine or Mosel counterparts, and in the hands of Ernie Loosen these are perfect introductions to the wines of Germany. His Pinot Gris s floral and fresh with a hint of tropical fruit and just a trace of sweetness on the end.
"Made by Ernst Loosen on an estate across the border from Alsace. Fresh pear and white peach nose, ripe and creamy on the palate with lifted spice. Just off-dry but with good acidity, this is a great wine for the warmer weather, enjoyed with or without food." Steven Spurrier, Best Old World White in “Spurriers’s World”, Decanter Magazine
"Lemony, evening flower scent and warm honey. Slight spritz. Very lively, bounces, although it doesn’t quite taste bone dry." Tamlyn Currin for www.jancisrobinson.com
