2006 Insignia is already making a splash in the wine world!

It hasn’t yet been released in the UK market but the 2006 vintage of Insignia is already catching the attention of America’s top wine critics.

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate describes it as being “made in a dense-full-bodied, muscular style… with high tannin, extract, and richness. The blackberry and cassis characteristics are accompanied by notions of damp earth, subtle oak, licorice [sic] and forest floor. It will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age, and should drink well for two decades or more. 94-96 points"

Meanwhile, the Wine Spectator Insider finds Insignia 2006 “teasing with its floral berry and currant aromas, this is full-bodied, firm and structured, tight and focused, offering glimpses of what lies ahead with its complex mix of flavors [sic] and tightly wound tannins. Yet its finesse and refinement are apparent on the finish. 94 points."

Private Cellar will be offering Insignia and the Joseph Phelps Cabernet Sauvignon in December 2009. For a preview of the wines, why not come along to our autumn tasting in London on 17th September where Rob Baxter will be pouring the wines for the winery?
