Beautifully balanced rosé, Matthew Jukes

It’s that time of year when the most reliable and exciting rosé in the country arrives, just in time to slake our collective thirst. I visited the stunning Château de Sours earlier this year to see the massive transformations which have been going on there.  A brand new winery is now in place and it is very impressive indeed. No aircon is used anywhere through, unlike most modern wineries, because the chilly air from the network of caves below is directed up into the winery. This superbly green way of using this natural resource impressed me and the rise in quality of the 2010 vintage reflects their incredible care and attention to detail. Beautifully balanced and incredibly mouthwatering, 2010 de Sours Rosé is a fabulous wine and it is certainly the finest vintage to date. If you want to treat yourself, then the super-cuvee rosé, 2010 La Source Rosé is available in a month’s time. This sensitively oaked, more structured style is absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. While you’re on the blower to Private Cellar, grab some magnums of Château de Sours Rosé too.
