Château de Sours Rosé - a Spring hit!

Johnathan Ray is celebrating a big birthday in April, with imperials of Château de Sours Rosé. Here's what he had to say about it in the April edition of the Field Magazine:

“Stock up for spring with some decent rosés (and you should have drunk any pinks you bought more than a year ago; they’re not for keeping). Last year, rosé sales in the UK were up almost 18% on 2008, with the rosé category now accounting for around 12% of the UK off-trade by volume.

There are so many to choose from with some cracking examples around. One of my favourites is Château de Sours, a 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc blend from Bordeaux. It went through a bit of a lean patch, but is right on song again, being fresh, juicy and ripe. Private Cellar (01353 721 608) is doing a special offer until 2 April on bottles (£84 per dozen), magnums (£96 for six), double magnums (£48 each) and imperials, equivalent to eight bottles (£96 each). These last really are spectacular (being hand-sealed in wax and presented in a fancy wooden box) and I’ve already nabbed a couple for the birthday I won’t be celebrating.”
