House & Garden Magazine November Wines of the Month
Two of our favourite wines also caught the eye of wine writer Joanna Simon in her glossy Taste Notes pages of House & Garden (November 2011 Edition).
Here are her Wines of the Month:
"These show how the right wine, whether white or red, old world or new, can benefit from age. The off-dry Bishops Head Riesling 2008, from Waipara in New Zealand, has the typical petrolly smell of mature Riesling (much nicer than it sounds) and racy, lime-cordial and Russet-apple fruit flavours. Villa Serra Minervois 2005 is velvety and dry with sweet spice, earth and mineral flavours. They are both from Private Cellar, a Cambridgeshire merchant with an impressive wine portfolio."
Bishops Head Riesling was also recommended as a good match for Diana Henry's delicious sounding recipe for a Salad of roast squash with ricotta, smoked cheese and fried sage.
Thank you, Joanna, for a great write up.
