Insignia - recommended by Vincent Gasnier MS
The July edition of Decanter Magazine, which deals with all matters vinous, asked a host of experts to recommend ageworthy New World wines to lay down alongside their Bordeaux and Burgundy, the focus of most cellars. We were delighted to see that Master Sommelier Vincent Gasnier recommended a wonderful wine that we are lucky enough to be the UK agents for: Insignia 2004 from Joseph Phelps Vineyards.
"This is the prestige wine from the first Californian winery to make a Bordeaux blend under a proprietary label. It offers complexity, richness and attractive fruit in a velvety texture. A classic to rival the French, with a great potential for ageing."
Our en primeur allocation of this wine was snapped up by savvy customers but we are often able to source older vintages or let us know if you would like to receive our offer of the 2005 vintage when it is released at the end of this year. Alternatively, why not try the Cabernet Sauvignon from Joseph Phelps that showed so beautifully at our recent tastings? We have just a few cases left.
