A revelation, the finest South African chenin I have ever tasted, with so much perfumed, peachy fruit it could be served alongside a top white burgundy and would still shine.
2005 Marsannay, Joseph Roty, Burgundy, France
I am a big fan of the 2005 red burgundy vintage, and even from this less notable, northern Côte d'Or village, the result is a fat, ripe, gamey, beetrooty red with lots of seductive, savoury spice, so snap it up.
