Jonathan Ray's 50 Summer Wines
Jonathan Ray's 50 top wines for summer feature was published on Saturday (20/06/09) and we were thrilled to see two of our own wines making the grade amongst the hundreds of bottles he tastes...
Of our Bylines Chardonnay 2008 he says: "This is serious chardonnay, from some of the Hunter Valley's oldest vines. Oak-aged with ripe fruit means it is full, tropical and buttery, but it's clean and refreshing too. Excellent with baked cod with beurre blanc sauce."
Pavillon du Château Beauchêne was also picked as a top picnic wine: "A smooth and spicy blend of greanache, cinsault and syrah that would enhance any déjeuner sur l'herbe. It is sublimely soft and far more characterful than most Côtes du Rhône wines. Try it with one of Melton Mowbray's finest."
