Spring Wines in Lloyd's List
We were thrilled to see no less than four of our wines featured in Neville Smith's Lloyd's List column on Friday 7th March 2008.
First up was our Rully from Anne-Sophie Debavelaere - "fresh and insistent lemon fruit, bright and sharp with just a lick of oak to add a slightly spicy edge and a long finish".
This was followed by Matrot's Bourgogne Chardonnay 2006 - "golden, rich and fleshy, almost opulent which at this price makes it a steal".
We are shipping more stock of both of the above wines which will arrive shortly
For the reds, Neville recommends Ique Malbec - "In the wrong hands, Malbec can be a monster but this is restrained and elegant definitely luscious but not overpowering. It hints of mint and chocolate on the nose, dark bruised fruit within, held in place with polished tannins".
And, finally, Château Carignan where he finds that "hand harvesting of tiny yields and a light touch in the winery have produced a very unusual 2003 Bordeaux. Oak leads a creamy nose and almost crunchy fruit follows - it is full but not jammy, gentle yet spicy and firm - almost as if the old and new worlds have found a happy medium".
