Bishop’s Head

Established in 2006 with the sole aim of making quality wines, Bishop’s Head is based in Waipara on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island.

By combining new world techniques and old world practices, Peter Saunders is producing Rieslings and Pinot Noirs which are quite extraordinary – intense and vibrant, with more than a nod towards Burgundy and the Rhine.

The Reserve Pinot Noir is made in the same way as Pinot in Burgundy, with open top fermenters, whilst the Reserve Riesling is allowed to remain on its lees to increase in complexity, in much the same way as might happen in Germany’s prime estates.

We are listing four wines from this quality winery - two from their "basic" range and two of their reserve wines. Not to be missed!
