Who do I contact for advice when buying wine?

Private Cellar’s success is based totally on our ethos of personal contact with our customers and this is where we really are different from other merchants. Put simply, we love talking about wine and everyone here knows a lot about it so please just call 01353 721 999 for advice and assistance. Every member of the team will be able to help you but to contact us individually, please visit our Team Page for direct numbers and e-mail addresses.

Who should I contact with a query regarding my existing order?

If you have already received your invoice, simply contact your salesman, whose details you will find on the invoice. If your query is regarding delivery, Jessica Wilding deals with our logistics and will be very happy to help you with any questions that you may have. Jessica’s direct number is 01353 721 602 or you can e-mail Jessica for a direct response.

What are your delivery charges?

Delivery is free of charge for 24 bottles or more within mainland England and Wales. All other deliveries within mainland England and Wales are charged at £14.50 including VAT. Please visit our Terms & Conditions page for full details. Alternatively, if you live near Newmarket/Ely, you can collect your wine from our office free of charge (with prior notice).

Can I place an order on your website for delivery overseas?

We are able to ship wine all over the world but we would prefer to speak with you in person, to ensure that we understand your delivery requirements and offer you the best service possible. To arrange a delivery overseas, please call us on 01353 721 602 so that we may quote you a bespoke shipping price and make the necessary arrangements.

How can I get free delivery?

If you are in mainland England or Wales, all orders of 24 bottles or more are delivered free of charge.

Do you deliver to Scotland, the Islands and Worldwide?

Yes we do! Please ask us for a bespoke quotation for delivery charges to your area.

Can you find a specific wine for me that I can’t see on your lists?

Please let us know what you are looking for and we will do our very best to source it for you. We are always on the look out for new and exciting wines and we would love to hear from you if you have recommendations of wines that you think that we should try. Please call us on 01353 721 999 or e-mail the name of the wine to us.

Do you sell organic wines?

We understand that many people suffer from allergies which may be traced back to wine. Whilst we do not stock any wines that are labelled as organic, many of our suppliers farm their vineyards using organic, biodynamic and “lutte raisonnée” methods but do not market their wines as such. We will be very happy to help you choose a selection of wines from our list from suppliers who use these methods so please contact us for more information.

Are you able to help me with wine investment?

The team at Private Cellar has a huge wealth of experience in this area and we would be very pleased to advise you. Over the years, we have got to know many of the top suppliers across the globe, buying directly from source, and we have been instrumental in building up collections for customers for investment; we, therefore, have access to pristine, blue-chip private cellars. Whether you are looking to have your wine portfolio valued, or if you would like to use our more comprehensive Portfolio Management Service, the Fine Wine Team at Private Cellar will be very pleased to help and advise you. Can I store wine with Private Cellar?

Storage of customer reserves forms an important part of Private Cellar’s business. Whether you are looking to store wines purchased from us or elsewhere (under bond or duty paid), Private Cellar Reserves offers a complete storage solution. Do you hold wine tastings and events?

We hold a number of wine tastings at Private Cellar throughout the year in London, East Anglia, Oxfordshire and Hampshire as well as organising ad hoc events for our customers. We also have a number of supplier visits and wine dinners planned so please visit our Events page to find out about our upcoming events.

Our Master of Wine, Nicola Arcedeckne-Butler, would be very happy to organise a tailor-made tutored tasting for you and your friends or your company so please do not hesitate to contact her for assistance and prices.

Do you have a shop?

We do not have a physical shop at Private Cellar – our website and wine list are our shop windows – but we are always delighted to meet our customers so please call us on 01353 721 999 if you would like to arrange an appointment to discuss your wine requirements. We travel all over the country so you do not need to be in Cambridgeshire to meet us.

Which credit cards do you accept?

We accept MasterCard, Visa, Switch/Maestro and Delta cards. Payment may also be made by cheque or by direct transfer to our bank account. If you would like to pay by BACS, please contact us for our bank details. Please note that we are unable to accept payments by American Express.

I’d like you to supply my business with wine – do you sell to corporate customers?

Yes we do and we would be very pleased to visit you at your offices to discuss your requirements. To arrange a visit from a member of the team, please contact Amanda Skinner on 01353 721 608 or by e-mail.

Can I return a wine if I do not like it?

We are proud to only source wines which are outstanding in their category and, by dealing direct with the grower and keeping overheads low, we are able to offer them to you at very competitive prices. We will replace or credit wine which, for any reason, fails to give satisfaction. Simply return it to us at 57 High Street, Wicken, Cambridgeshire CB7 5XR and we will credit your account. Please note that this does not apply to wines that have been shipped outside of the UK mainland.

Will you do a tasting for a charity?

We hold a number of charity wine tastings throughout the year and would be happy to talk through your requirements. We apply a charities discount to all wines used at the event, enabling you to maximise your fund raising potential.
