Château l’Evangile, Pomerol 2017
Evangile lost all of their Cabernet to the frost (50% of the crop) and so this is the first 100% Merlot incarnation of the wine. Deep red black, semi opaque with a nose of inky black fruits, perfumed with violets and spiced with some grilled notes and crème pâtissière too. The palate is gorgeously inky and rich, sweet and ripe, crème pâtissière again and with grilled blackberry fruit, floral too – roses – on the end palate, sweet dense and intense to a racy finish with really supple and subtle tannins behind. Drink 2027 - 2037

Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol 2017 (6 per case)

Deep dense black red right to the rim, really intense but not purple with a nose of intense, almost earthy grilled black fruits, mulberry, rich, wih a hint of crème pâtissière, really exciting with a floral touch of camomile and violets with a grilled back note. On the palate dense rich grilled black fruit, sweet and toasty, intense, with super-supple ripe tannins behind and an extremely long, rich finish. Superb. 2028 - 2040
