Domaine Laurent Cognard
The Cognard family for many years have managed their vineyards, harvested their grapes and delivered them to the local co-operative at Buxy. It’s no surprise that with such talented and dedicated growers contributing, the Buxy Co-op has gained such an excellent reputation! However, when Laurent took the reins of the family estate, he decided that he wanted to vinify under his own label and Domaine Laurent Cognard was born.
He started with his 1er Cru Les Bassets under his own label and from 2008 he takes back his Vieux Château vineyard, the grapes from which he has sold, under contract, to J M Boillot for vinification in recent years.
Laurent works hard in the vineyard, which he maintains under lutte raisonée principles. He aims for perfect ripeness at the time of picking which gives his wine an attractive, honeyed note but they are always harmonious and pure, with balancing acidity and refreshing minerality.
