Château Tayet, Cuvée Prestige, Bordeaux Supérieur 2018

Red | France | Bordeaux | 14% | Medium-bodied red

Château Tayet is a consistent presence in our best-sellers list. Plush and rounded on the palate, with lovely cedary red and black fruits, it has just enough tannin for bite and a lovely, rich finish.

Drinks editor Jonathan Ray was asked to join Olivia Potts and Lara Prendergast on The Spectator’s Table Talk podcast where they enjoyed a bottle Château Tayet, click here to listen.

“Really ‘claretty’ mature claret with ripeness, cedary depths, velvet tannins and gravelly graphite notes. Merlot-led, with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, this is aged in oak for a year and is the sort of wine that gives affordable Bordeaux a good name.” Joanna Simon www.joannasimon.com

“Mature and a little gamey then sweet with some dry tannins on the end. But it’s not a bad price for a seven-year-old wine with character.” Jancis Robinson

Also available in splendid double magnums, Tayet was recently described by one of our customers as the ‘miracle that keeps on giving’ – high praise indeed, and fully deserved. Winemaker Jean-Michel Garcion, who oversees all the de Mour properties, is, frankly, a genius when it comes to coaxing out all the best flavours in a grape.

I would buy this wine again!

Delicious! There is a hint of vanilla and toasty notes which marry well with notes of cedar wood and lovely soft red-fruits flavours.
