Château Tour Baladoz, Grand Cru St Emilion 2015

Red | France | Bordeaux | 13.5% | Full-bodied red

The vines for Tour Baladoz are partially on the limestone plateau and partially in a beautiful green bowl filled entirely with vines, on the eastern edge of St Emilion towards St Etienne de Lisse, which gives them the benefit of two different soils, limestone and clay. Densely concentrated, with perfumed new wood behind the rich red fruits and a light tannic backbone, this is drinking well now and will continue to do so into the future. Truly delicious.

"The 2015 Ch. Tour Baladoz is from the same ownership [as Ch. Tayet], that of the De Schepper family, and same winemaker: the supremely gifted Jean-Michel Garcion. A Merlot-dominant Saint-Emilion Grand Cru that neighbours Ch. Le Tertre Roteboeuf, it’s rich, intense, concentrated, succulent and seductively approachable. From a classic vintage, it’s quintessential Saint-Emilion and will keep for yonks." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator, October 2019

93/100 Neal Martin: "Refined and pure bouquet that blossoms in the glass, the oak beautifully integrated and the terroir coming through. The palate is sweet on the entry but does not become cloying. It is modern in style but not overdone, and is has silky smooth tanins with a lush, precocious finish that lingers long in the mouth. This is a well-crafted hedonistic Saint-Emilion made with style."
