Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Domaine Matrot 2017

Red | France | Burgundy | 12% | Lighter, fruitier red

Elsa and Adèle Matrot are very happy with their 2017s, not least because they finally represent a bit of volume in the cellar; the reds are sweet and ripe and already approachable. Elsa believes they are unlikely to shut down and they will be easy to drink at all stages of their evolution.

From one plot in Meursault and two in Puligny Montrachet, this has supple red berry fruit on the nose, raspberry in particular, leading to a palate of bright red fruits with a lovely spicy note behind. Stalky and juicy with a nice bite of tannin, this goes on to a fresh, mouth-watering finish.
