Mâcon Uchizy, Meurgey-Croses 2017

White | France | Burgundy | 13% | Dry, full-bodied white

Pierre Meurgey’s roots are in the Mâconnais and it is to there he returned when he decided to get involved in the sharp end of wine, rather than the more gentle activity of selling the finished product. In 2017, in common with many in the area, Pierre played with the malolactic fermentation to ensure that his wines had enough acidity and balance in this warm year and the result is deliciously balanced wine with lovely intensity and weight.

No oak used on this cuvée. A sweet, tightly fruited nose with some spice and cinnamon, fresh and vibrant. Lovely creamy citrus fruit on the palate, very fresh and pure. Some creamy notes which feel like oak but this is all from the fruit! Rich, supple and satisfying.

Drink 2019 – 2022.
