Chosen by Matthew Jukes for his 100 Best Australian Wines 2019/2020! 55% Semillon, 45% Sauvignon, made mostly in stainless steel with a tiny percentage fermented in new French oak. Lenton Brae's first white release was in 1987 and their first Cabernet in 1988; the wines consistently win medals and trophies at the rigorous Australian wine competitions and James Halliday, Australia’s top wine writer, rates them as a 5* producer, his highest ranking.

Very flamboyant Sauvignon Blanc notes on the nose and a distant, waxy Semillon touch; the palate has leafy gooseberry fruit, light and fresh with sprightly acidity, spiced and direct, really well made with a delicious, refreshing finish.

"Sem-sav, the white blend of Bordeaux and also of Margaret River is not so much under-rated as under-appreciated. I love the calm – the hint of dried grass, lemongrass and faint beeswax – that semillon brings to sauvignon’s more piercing citrus flavours. This is mostly fermented in stainless steel with just a bit going into oak, to add a subtle layer of texture." Victoria Moore, The Telegraph, December 2019

"How does this small wine region in the far south-west corner of Australia do it? It manages to make superb Chardonnay, sumptuous Cabernet and this local speciality, a combination of the two grapes of white bordeaux. If you came across this labelled Pessac-Léognan you’d be thrilled. There’s just a hint of oak and the wine manages to be both opulent and refreshing. A great food wine. Maybe smoked salmon?"
