Wine Bts per case £ per case in bond
Château Beauregard, Pomerol 2018
Dense red black, not opaque, with a nose of bright red fruits, sweet and sappy with a fresh leafy twist backed by vanilla notes too, alluring; on the palate very pretty red and black fruits, creamed with hints of vanilla, floral – violets, acacia - grilled and pretty going to a refreshing finish. Really lovely wine. Drink 2024-2034

12 £560
Château Bourgneuf, Pomerol 2018
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. Deep purple black right to the rim with a nose of savoury, tight black fruits and some grilled notes behind, fresh; on the palate huge smooth black fruits on entry, vibrant and more substantial than the others, very slightly reduced at this stage with lovely grilled toasty notes behind that, and big blackcurrant fruit – but definitely not opulent and needs time to show its true potential. Drink 2025-2032

Château Certan de May, Pomerol 2018
70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep red black to the rim, not quite opaque, with a tight, mineral, stony nose of black fruits, distant, some perfume yet not hugely expressive; on the palate sweet and soured black fruits, fresh yet super ripe too with a light savoury, almost saline, twist, underscored by substantial ripe tannins and a long, pure, saline, linear finish. The best Certan de May for some time. Drink 2025-2035

12 £1,040
Château de Bel-Air, Lalande de Pomerol 2018
73% Merlot; 19% Cabernet Franc; 8% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep purple black to the rim with a nose of creamed black fruits, more restrained than the St Emilions at this stage; smooth creamed black fruits on the palate, with big tannins behind some spirity fruit, then a fresh vibrancy comes through and it finishes much more complete than it starts, growing and amplifying. This wine will give a lot of pleasure in the mid-term. Drink 2022-2028

12 £190
Château Gazin, Pomerol 2018
Deep black red, not opaque, with a tight nose of big black fruits, grilled and plummy with mulberry notes, some sloe too, brooding, with supple, cool black fruit on the palate underscored by substantial, ripe tannins, really intense, big wine yet fresh and racy too with a really long, precise, rich finish. Superb – this hints at so much to come! Drink 2025-2035

Château La Fleur Pétrus, Pomerol 2018
91% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot. Deep red black right to the rim with a nose of big black cherry fruit without being sweet, mineral and very restrained; on the palate more smooth black fruits with power behind them, mineral and savoury with substantial, supple tannins, perfectly in check, going to a vibrant, fresh, floral finish with a toasty, grilled note behind. This will need time to grow into itself. Wow! Drink 2027-2038+

Château Lafleur, Pomerol 2018
Deep intense purple black with big black fruits on the nose, coffee and grilled too, very perfumed and obvious, but with spice and leafy freshness behind; on the palate huge black fruit on entry, intense, ripe, smooth, rich, super-fruited, truly fab, really spiced and rich, with massive smooth tannins, going to a gorgeously dense, rich, yet cool and classy finish which goes on and on, evolving all the time. Wow! Drink 2028-2043+

100% Merlot. Very deep red black to the rim with a nose of crunchy black fruit, tight with some spice leading to a palate of musky black fruits, crunchy with substantial tannins, a fresh leafy note behind despite being pure Merlot, some toasty dark chocolate too, going to a fresh, vibrant, juicy finish which grows and develops. Drink 2024-2031

Château Mazèyres, Pomerol 2018
66% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Franc, 5 % Petit Verdot; 2018 marks the first certified biodynamic vintage. Deep dark red black, not opaque, with a nose of fresh blackcurrant fruit, so pure it is almost like juice, with more of the same on the palate – fresh, vibrant light black fruits, really elegant and fresh, with subtle extraction and balance, really well done with ripe tannins on the finish. Good wine, not extravagant. Drink 2024-2029

12 £244
Château Moulin Haut Laroque, Fronsac 2018
Fronsac, along with Castillon, saw particular success in 2018 with their limestone-rich soils. Dense purple black right to the rim with a nose of tight, creamed black fruits; perfumed again, some myrtle, leading to a palate of intense black fruits, sweet and perfumed, with big ripe tannins behind, dense with a hint of grilled new oak, going to a long, sweet, rich finish. Château Moulinet Lasserre, Pomerol 2018
70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dense, opaque black right to the rim with a deliciously toasty nose of creamed black fruits, grilled and intense, with a stony, mineral note behind. On the palate big crunchy black fruits, surprisingly fresh with a layer of grilled oak, toasty and rich, with super-ripe tannins behind and a lovely structure. Drink 2025-2031

Château Plince, Pomerol 2018
79% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc. Slightly lighter in colour yet dense, to the rim; on the nose perfumed black fruits, mulberry, black cherry, sloe, damson, with some distant grilled notes behind and on the palate, all of the above and more, with big toasty black fruit underscored by firm, ripe tannins, some grip yet fresh, toasty and supple with a lovely fruited finish. Château Séraphine, Pomerol 2018
100% Merlot. Deeply coloured with dense black fruit on the nose, dusty and mineral, perfumed and intense too with notes of mulberry and spice, even a distant hint of thyme and garrigue and black pepper. Deeply concentrated on the palate with firm, mineral black fruit, sweet and savoury, more cool and poised. Mid weight initially on the finish, and then it grows and evolves, really intense and elegant, and so very different to Clos Cantenac. Superb. Drink 2026-2039

Les Cruzelles, Lalande de Pomerol 2018
Denis Durantou. Deeper red black with a nose of supple black fruits, tight and restrained with some toasty notes behind, spiced with notes of black jelly and perfume. On the palate a completely different profile with really structured black fruits, soft and supple on entry with substantial ripe tannins behind, very intense, cool and precise, incredibly fresh yet plump too, in a good way. Delicious. Drink 2024-2030+
