Marquis de Calon, St Estèphe 2018
53% Merlot, 47% Cabernet Sauvignon; less Merlot this year, partially because of the vintage but also because they are moving towards a more Cabernet style. Dense red black with jammy black fruit, some cool and poised notes but erring towards warm damson fruit with floral hints of honeysuckle. On the palate dense black fruit, rich, intense, concentrated, with a beautiful rich backnote underscored by fine ripe tannins and going to very long finish. Fabulous wine. Drink 2025-2032
