Château de Lamarque, Haut-Médoc 2023

Red | France | Bordeaux | 13.5% | Full-bodied red

Very deep purple to the core, opaque even, with spiced black skinned fruit on the nose, damsons, sloes going a palate of substantial, intense black skinned fruit, ripe but so smooth and lithe, with hints of wood spice and great texture, bags of ripe blackcurrant fruit and such well integrated tannins that it feels almost drinkable already! A wine with lovely purity and intensity. Superb value. Drink 2028 - 2038+

55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 18% Petit Verdot, 30% new oak. Pierre-Gilles has swapped punch downs for the air pulse system which increases the concentration of fruit but avoids over extraction, giving a beautiful texture.
