We don’t usually offer Beaujolais in our Burgundy primeur offer – indeed many a Burgundian would argue that they have no place in a Burgundy offer at all – but having tasted the few 2024s which survived the brutal growing season with Laurent Savoye we really feel that they deserve a little bit more attention than usual. As elsewhere in France, the summer was a litany of rain and low light, but in Beaujolais it was further compounded by two vicious hailstorms in June and July, running along a narrow strip which decimated the Beaujolais Villages vineyards whilst leaving St Amour unscathed.
