Anne Parent called the 2023 growing season ‘chaotic’, saved only by the fine weather at the end of August and early September which straightened everything out. The large yields were a real concern, particularly for Pinot Noir, which can become dilute and lose focus if not harvested at the correct time; at Domaine Parent they decided to harvest slightly earlier to maintain acidity and avoid overripe fruit, such was the speed of fruit maturation. Anne feels that the 2023s have something of 1999 about them – pretty, genial wines with good quality and quantity, one which will deliver deliciously drinkable wines – and that is what it is all about.
