St Aubin En L’Ebaupin, Les Parcellaires de Saulx 2024

White | France | Burgundy | 13% | Dry, full-bodied white

From the western edge of St Aubin, barrel fermented and aged for a year in one year old barrels. Bright gold with a green glint, with a nose of spiced white berries, honeycomb, white flowers, even beeswax and green spice with some semi-tropical fruit behind. Rich and honeyed on the palate, with zingy citrus notes behind, linear and stony, with a long, fresh racy finish – just how Isabelle likes it to be, plump with a firm line down the middle. Drink 2026 - 2030

Les Parcellaires de Saulx is a relative newcomer to the Burgundian scene – and something of a disruptor at that. In 2017, the new American owners of Clos de la Commaraine in Pommard, who also own the renowned Rully estate Domaine de Belleville, established a négociant arm on the edge of Meursault, in an old manor house with extensive underground cellars. As the name implies, the focus is on individual parcels: unique crus of purchased fruit or juice, the majority of which is organically or biodynamically produced. The only blending winemaker Isabelle Laurand undertakes is between barrels from the same lot – never across different parcels – allowing her to maximise the expression of both terroir and vintage.
