Technical Sheet |
Roter Veltliner is indigenous to Austria and represents just half a percent of the country’s total area under vine. Plantings are predominantly in the Wagram region, home to the Mehofer family, making it an important, specialist wine in their range. Left to its own devices, this late-ripening variety is capable of producing very high yields and wines of little distinction. If, however, production is restricted, it produces very fine, long lived wines – so Stephan Mehofer reduces his yield by 50% to maximise the quality of his organically grown grapes.

With leafy yellow fruit and citrus notes on the nose, this delicious wine is lightly honeyed on the ripe palate and infused with notes of white flowers and spice. A really refreshing alternative to the mainstream varieties, Mehofer’s Roter Veltliner is organically and sustainably produced and bottled using a lightweight glass to further reduce the environmental footprint. A brilliant wine, responsibly made.
