Charles Ballot is a truly gifted winemaker, and marked as ‘one to watch’ by various pundits; indeed he has been identified by the team at Michelin as a winemaker to keep an eye on in their Michelin Grape Awards. His cellar is glacial so his wines take some time to come round and are never showy. His wines are only fined or filtered if required, and if the cold doesn’t do the job naturally.

Above the premiers crus, on the southern side of the appellation. Bright with tightly wound nose, then some rich hazelnut and grilled notes come through, floral and really attractive; on the palate a lovely hit of salinity with rounded white stone fruits, some leafy notes, again a light grilled hint, really intense and super attractive yet juicy and fresh at the same time going to a fine, intense finish with lovely vibrancy which goes on and on.
