If the Coteaux de Provence were to introduce crus in the Burgundian style, Pierrefeu is universally acknowledged as the most likely candidate for the first one, with its limestone and schist soils giving wonderful intensity to the wines.

From Pierrefeu, one of the acknowledged crus in Provence, made by Olivier de Pierrefeu no less; a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault and Rolle. Pale, classic Provence pink with a floral nose laced with soft red fruits, light strawberry notes too, leading to an equally fresh, floral, red fruit palate, very gentle and supple, with a lovely creamy texture and a long, ripe finish. Delicious now, this will just keep getting better in the next few months.
