Bourgogne Blanc Côte d’Or, Cuvée Les Forgets, Domaine Patrick Javillier 2023

White | France | Burgundy | 13% | Full-bodied white

From vineyards within the Meursault commune, on the Volnay side with a clay-rich soil. Bright gold with a nose of lovely floral fruit, spiced, rich, gourmand, intense, with notes of beeswax and a weighty feel, leading to a palate of rich yellow stone fruit, apricot, almost honeyed with a distant leafy note, a light touch of yellow flowers and beeswax, white pepper, going to a lovely juicy finish. This is eminently drinkable already! Drink 2025 - 2027+

Marion Javillier is frequently the author of our Burgundy Report subheadings – she always has a pithy one-liner to sum up the vintage, or the market, or the season, which just puts things into perspective. This year she summed up 2023 as a ‘bon millésime – voilà!’
